5 Things Every Photographer Should Have on Their Website (Plus a Free Checklist)

As photographers, our website is often the first impression potential clients get of our brand—and you only get a few seconds to make it count.

Whether you're just getting started or you're revamping your current site, there are a few essential things that every photography website should include. These five things will not only make you look more professional but also help convert potential leads into booked clients.

Here’s what your website must have (plus a free checklist at the end 👇).

1. Your Portfolio (Curated & Organized)

This is the heart of your website. People want to see your style, your editing, and your range. But they don’t want to scroll through 200 images.

Tip: Choose your best 20–30 images per category and display them in clean galleries. Organize by session type (e.g. weddings, maternity, branding) to make it easy to navigate.

✅ Make sure the images load quickly and look great on mobile too.

2. Clear Services & Pricing Info

Your visitors want to know two things: What do you offer, and how much does it cost?

You don’t have to list every single price—but at least share package types and a “Starting at” number. That way, you filter out people who aren’t your target client before they fill out your contact form.

3. An About Page That Feels Personal

People book photographers they connect with. Your “About” page should build that relationship.

Tell your story. Why did you become a photographer? What do you love about the work you do? What can people expect when they work with you?

Include a photo of yourself—bonus points for a behind-the-scenes image or video of you in action.

4. Easy Contact & Booking

If people can’t reach you in under 30 seconds, you’ll lose them.

Have a dedicated contact page with a simple form. Make sure there are call-to-action buttons throughout the site (“Book Now” / “Let’s Chat” / “Work With Me”) that lead them directly to that form.

5. Client Testimonials

Your past clients are your best marketers. Including 3–6 short, specific testimonials helps build trust and shows real clients' past experiences with you.

You can even pair each testimonial with an image from that client’s session. That will make it feel even more authentic and build trust.

You can add your testimonials to your homepage, services page, or create a dedicated testimonials page on your website.

Bonus Tips to Level Up Your Website

  • Make sure it’s mobile-friendly and loads fast, do this with smaller sized images.
  • Keep navigation simple—3–5 menu items max.
  • Add social media links, especially Instagram.
  • Include SEO basics: alt text for images, relevant keywords, and clear page titles.
